GTA 4: THE LOST AND DAMNED
Ima huuuuuuuuuge GTA fan, HUUGE... and i saw today that they have a new game comin out already, thats actually "due" out in feb, called "GTA 4: The Lost and Damned"
the game takes place in liberty city again, and it follows a bike gang called The Lost... i think its a tight idea to make a GTA game following a bikers... cuz they havnt done that yet... BUT im not gonna lie to u, i dont think im that pumped up about this game... see, GTA4 was not good to me... to be honest, i kinda hated it... the graphics and the lil details they added n shit were dope as fuck, everything looked soooo raw... but, as far as game quality goz, i think it was shitty.
now im not just sayin this cuz i do hip-hop or whatever... but San Andreas was def the rawest GTA game out... the story was raw, the fact that u got to go to the ghettos, the country, the dessert, and casinos was raw as fuck... u could loose weight, gain weight, work out, gain stamina, pimp out ur car, learn to drive, fly, drive a boat, u could swim under water, get tats, change ur hair, all around perfect game... then u go to GTA4 and u cant do any of that shit i said above... the whole game is based in libery city, which looks all the same, all the missions start feelin like the same mission, ive beat every GTA game except GTA4 and thats cuz i stopped playin it... cuz it was boring to me...
so knowing that this new game takes place in liberty city kinda kills the mood for me already... i dunno, well see how this pans out... any comments??

HIPHOPFORNERDS.COM INTERVIEW WITH SOUL KRYZIZ
Check out an exclusive interview with Soul Kryziz over at http://www.hiphopfornerds.com/
"Noxtradamas: For the people who have never heard of you before, talk to us a little about how you got started in rap and why you chose rap music as your form of expression.
Soul: Well I grew up around hip hop in its golden age so to speak. I have a brother that’s 14 years older than me and that’s all he used to play for a long time. Slowly but surely it started to gradually take it’s toll on me and before I knew it I was in the mirror mimicking artists like LL Cool J. So from that point on very early in my life I knew I wanted to be involved with hip hop. Hip hop itself brings back a lot of childhood memories.

Nox: Rap music has really expanded and branched off these days from traditional lyricism. We’ve got new dances, guitars, singing, emceesperforming with live bands, more concept albums than everbefore…where in this world of rap does your music stand? How wouldyou describe your style to a stranger who came up to you and askedabout your music?"

TRACK BY TRACK (THRU ZUPS EYES) PART 2
LIES
well i made this beat last year when i was workin on my compilation cd called "The Broken Condom Complex"... the cd was supposed to be all my beats, bringin rappers from all over together... but of course, like everything else that happens in this city... it fell thru do to lack of motivation from the other artists... this song was intended for 6 rappers... and was supposed to be the 1st single off the project.... but once i saw the broken complex fallin apart b4 it really started, i didnt even bother to throw a 3rd verse on it... soul was one of the 6 rappers... and once we started workin on Open for Business, i called him up and said "u want lies?" and he already said he had 2 verses written
WEST 6TH
well here is the 1st single... at this point and time on souls cd, he had a bunch of great songs, but no singles... i wanted him to have that club banger, that was still hood, and still allowed him to keep it soul. i was actually talkin to soul on the phone while i was makin the beat, and when i started playin the bridge b4 the 3rd verse i had to stop the convo and tell soul id call him back, cuz i knew i was creating sumthin crazy! i had no concept for the song... and i love how soul ran with it... cuz in cleveland on a sat night, west 6th is always poppin, clear skys, rain or snow... and the beat just makes me feel like im standin on west 6th while its snowin
NO LIGHTS
this beat was made durin the "i love hip-hop" stage of the mixtape... its a pretty easy sample... sets the mood right... soul needed a song for the ladies. when we went to record it, soul was afraid that his voice sounded too soft or different compared to the other songs... and i liked that about the song cuz... it is meant for the ladies... and they wanna be talked to like that. while we were recording it, i had this bright idea to play live drums at the end... and we ended up goin over an hour on our sessions just to record these live drums, that actually turned out raw... BUT... ull never hear them cuz terry and mick cut it off when they went to "88" haha its all good tho!!
88
now anyone that knows me, knows i love weird ass shit... the weirder the beat, the more i love the song... when i listen to sumthin and hear a diff sound each time, ill keep listening to it, over and over again... thats y i love timbaland! well i was thinkin how soul didnt have any of that yung zup swag to his cd yet... so i found a sound of a clock ticking, and then just started adding diff sounds and riffs around that... i remember playin this beat for one of my friends in my car, and they fuckin loved it, and i knew that once soul got on it, it would be classic... and sure enuff he called me and told me the idea of the song, and i loved it of course... and when i heard the actually song, i just remember lookin at him like "ur gonna make sum people mad with this"
1 4 U
i made this beat after we decided "no more love type songs"... and when i made it, it wasnt for soul... i just made it 4 whoever would want it... and i was sittin in his driveway b4 a show and i played it 4 him, and he just kept tellin me how he needs it and this was the one he was lookin for... and im glad i gave it to him cuz its prob one of my fav songs on the cd... listen to the 3rd verse, cuz he wraps up the "anniversary, lookin back" story!
WHAT I WANNA BE
if u dig back into the archives of this blog and watch the youtube video of me makin a beat... this is actually the beat... once this beat was done, i heard nothing but "outro"... and i had an idea for soul to write a song about a lil kid dreamin of what hes gonna be when he grows up... i even had a hook 4 it, but soul took a diff approach, and i like it alot more... this is one of my fav beats, cuz i feel like the drums, piano, bass, n strings just all mesh perfectly together and with soul spittin over it, its just ends the cd perfectly!!

OPEN FOR BUSINESS JANUARY 20TH!
TRACK BY TRACK (THRU ZUPS EYES) PART 1
Well I figured id sit down and go thru every song on the mixtape and tell u how it all went down thru my eyes (the producer).... lets get started shall we...
SKYS THE LIMIT (FT. LINDSAY FIELDS)
well i remember when i made this beat we mighta been 2 songs deep into the mixtape... and i knew i wanted to give it to soul, and i had an idea for it... Souls known for bein able to spit slow and fast on the same track... so i sorta designed the beat where the 1st 8 bars of each verse were meant for slow flow, where as the last 8 were meant for spit-fire... but soul came up with the dope concept of spittin about what he was goin thru, bein sick of workin a 9 to 5 and not bein noticed by anyone... and when i heard he said skys the limit b4 each verse, i got to thinkin of a hook... and i remember sittin in front of my laptop singin this hook, and textin soul like "yo, this narnia beat (i sampled narnia) is gonna be a fuckin hit dude... call lindsay" then i layed down a referance track of me singing, sent it to lindsay... next thing i know there droppin off a classic intro at my job... and now lookin back, this track is the song that really pumped us up about the mixtape
DIAMOND IN THE RUFF
i made this beat near the middle of the recording period... soul basically had all the beats he needed, but i got new drums and i kept makin these crazy diff style beats and hearin soul on them... so i kept callin him like "im sorry... but i got anouther beat 4 u" haha... i felt bad, cuz hed start writtin for a beat and b4 he could finish, im sendin him a new one that was shittin on the one he was writtin to... anyways, i came up with the concept to this one. i was thinkin how Soul is so raw, so diverse, but yet no1 really knows him... and i always loved the saying "diamond in the rough"... and i got to thinkin that soul is exactly that... then a hook popped up into my head... and there it is!
CITY OF LIGHT
if ur from cleveland and u love ur city... then this will be ur anthem... the story of this beat goz waaaaay back to 2005 i think... i made this beat and it was originaly for my dude Peezy and Soul was featured on it... Soul recorded his verse (which is actually the 2nd verse on the actual song) and Peezy never ended up writtin for it.... and i had this huge plan for this song... i wanted to have a HUGE cleveland remix, with everyone on it... and thats when i 1st met Drastic... he came thru to the spot, checked out sum beats... n then i played him "city of light" and asked if he wanted to drop a quick 8 for the remix... sure enuff, dras sat down and wrote it out in no time and recorded it right then and there.... and an interesting fact about that is, i sampled his 8 bar verse when i produced drastics song "believe in cleve"... anyways, long story short... peezy never ended up writtin to the song, Soul asked if he could have it, Peezy said yes... and the rest is history!
ANNIVERSARY
now this song goz waaaaaay back as well... soul had just finished his "columbian gormet" cd (which i produced 2 tracks on) and he was shootin me songs to maybe sample... he told me to sample this song called "anniversary" ... and it just sounded like a dull song to sample UNTIL this one part popped up... so i started fuckin around with it... and i was unsure about it, cuz it was so diff then what i ussualy sample... so i called soul and played it over the phone and all he said was"send it over NOW!" haha... so he ended up recordin it a year or 2 ago... but was never released... but when we came up with the idea to do this mixtape together, we said that we have to re-record anniversary... and we did... and it was the 1st song we actually recorded for Open for Business...
LOOKIN BACK
this song is actually part 2 of anniversary... i made this beat when we started talkin about doin this mixtape... the 1st plan we had for the mixtape was to make it all love songs about hip-hop... this was actually the 2nd song we recorded... we dropped this the same day as anniversary... but once soul recorded skys the limit, thats when we decided that we might have to change directions of this cd... but i love this beat, i didnt really do much to the sample, i just loved the way it just rode out like that... and Think was supposed to scratch over the hook... but it never happened
THERAPY
well this was actually the last beat i made for the cd... the beat was intended for sum1 else, but as i started makin it i was like "yo, soul HAS to be on this"... after hearin soul on the "drink, dance, party, clap remix" i had to hear him on sum more party type shit... and this shit was perfect... it was scary tho... cuz this track is so diff than anything souls ever done... and i love doin diff shit, BUT i never wanna take sum1 out of there box if they dont want to... but thats the thing ive noticed about soul... the more i work with him... this motherucker duznt have a box... he aint afraid to do anything... DJ Premier can give him a beat and hed kill it, and then Soulja Boy can make him a beat, and hed fuckin kill... both songs stayin thru to Soul Kryziz! so anyways, i sang him the hook over his voicemail... and he went crazy when he called me back... then we went into the studio and knocked it out in the last day of recording... and i was still uneasy about it, cuz it was so diff... but everyone we played it for, loves it... and ladies and gents... Therapy will be ur 2nd single! the people have spoken!
...ill cover the 6 songs that r left later... part 2 comin soon

Shout out to TERRY URBAN for throwin Soul up on his and MICK BOOGIES blog!
check out the interview:
"Mick and I just finished Soul's new mixtape called Open For Business produced by the highly talented producer Zup. I sat down and asked Soul a couple questions about his new release...
TU: State who you are and where your from.
SK: Soul Kryziz, outta Cleveland..
TU: What makes you different from everyone else?
SK: Honesty..lol! My music has no rules. I think I've found a happy medium between being a songwriter and an emcee. I more so concentrate on recording music people can relate to. Whether it's a club scene or something introspective you will always be able to point something out that you can connect with in my music. That's what make songs timeless.
TU: How did you guys meet and start working together?"
